[Show Notes] #80 Sequel Drop-Offs: Alien 3

When our buddy Sean McCarthy texted me with an idea for a topic a couple months ago I was intrigued. He had an idea for a concept where we would discuss sequels that were remarkably worse than the movie that came directly before it. I loved the idea, but I knew (because I don’t like to go completely obvious) I would have to watch a bunch of shitty movies. I’ve said it before, but I’m not one to dedicate myself to a franchise (Phantasm is the exception). I tried to skirt around the “obvious” ones, but nevertheless, I still have a bunch of turds in my Letterboxd diary.

This is literally how we felt after talking about sequel drop-offs.

My favorite part, though, was how much we all disagreed with each other’s picks. We agreed that some sequels just don’t come close to their direct predecessor, but enjoyment is so subjective, and you can’t tell someone they’re wrong for liking a movie (try as we might). And we don’t necessarily HATE all these movies (although some we do), it’s just that these are much worse compared to the film that came directly before it. As always, click on the key art of each movie to go to Amazon and purchase the Blu-ray/DVD. We’ll get a percentage of the cost to keep the show and site up and running. So without further ado, here are all the movies we talked about this week…
